We are bubbles upon the surface of the sea,
And no one knows the depths from which we rise.
We glitter a moment, then burst beneath the skies,
Our vapors rising towards a mystery.
The Poetry of R. D. Ainsworth
Welcome friend! I have created this little world in order to share my own modest creations with you. I hope that you may obtain as much pleasure in reading these poems as I do in writing and sharing them.

My Gratitude (2014)
To my secret soul, companion of my dream,
My dearest girl, my treasure and my world,
There are no words to write how much you mean,
For none have ever entered it but you:
So thank you, darling, for being who you are,
For all that you do, and the spirit in your breast;
I’ll dedicate my life and never reach the end
Of my gratitude. In you all futures rest.
My dearest girl, my treasure and my world,
There are no words to write how much you mean,
For none have ever entered it but you:
So thank you, darling, for being who you are,
For all that you do, and the spirit in your breast;
I’ll dedicate my life and never reach the end
Of my gratitude. In you all futures rest.

While You Sleep (2014)
With every morning that I wake beside
You, loveliest girl, soft-breathing in your sleep,
I take a moment and watch you, wonder-eyed
And full of joy. These moments have a deep
And penetrating power, enough to bring
Me pleasure and warmth upon the coldest day,
While in my dreams with angel voice they sing
And cheer me through the nights you cannot stay.
And so, my precious girl and greatest bliss,
Since time is not yet pacing at the door,
I’ll sit and watch you sleep a moment more,
And then, at last, when night is almost done,
I’ll whisper your name, awake you with a kiss,
And behold in your eyes the rising of the sun.

Your Silence (2014)
Sing to me, lovely! Your silence is grief
Swallowed inward to pool in the heart.
My loveliest, sing!
For you are not alone,
Though you wander forlorn and apart.
Whisper to me in a candle-lit room
And weep out the grief in your breast;
In my arms you are safe, so lay yourself down
That your heart may find healing and rest.
